If I see a large number of shirmp coming by the boat when I am flounder gigging I will put my gig down and get my net and cast for the shrimp. When casting for shrimp from the bank or dock at night I appear to get more shrimp if I have a bright light within reach. It seems that the shrimp drift with the tide and they’re going to stop and bunch together in the shadows of the light. The “Fly,” in fly fishing, seriously is not a fly at all. In fact, the word “fly” is not always the right word to explain much of anything else to do with fly fishing. Perhaps at the start back in the days of tree limbs, string and dead bugs a “fly” was really a fly.
