When casting for shrimp from the bank or dock at night I appear to get more shrimp if I have a bright light nearby. It seems that the shrimp drift with the tide and they will stop and bunch together in the shadows of the light. The “Fly,” in fly fishing, is simply not a fly at all. In fact, the word “fly” is not necessarily the proper word to explain much of whatever to do with fly fishing. Perhaps at the start back in the times of tree limbs, string and dead bugs a “fly” was really a fly.
