The male will wrap his body around the female and the two will spawn with eggs and sperm being published simultaneously. With each spawn the female will release about 40 eggs. This behavior may be repeated several times, and if the female was well filled out, the spawn can be around 200 eggs. The eggs will mostly sink and the male will pick them up in his mouth and place them in his nest. The female can even help retrieve the eggs, but more often she simply eats any she finds. After spawning the male will chase off the feminine and could guard the nest and eggs until they hatch.
