how do siamese fighting fish fightHere we show that treating Siamese combating fish, Betta splendens, with extract of rue has a significant effect on key aggressive/reproductive behaviors and the propensity to explore novel objects boldness. In all cases the respective behaviors were reduced relative to controls and sham injected fish. Histological evaluation of the testes found out that rue publicity decreased the variety of spermatozoa but increased the number of spermatocytes relative to controls. Although called fighter fish, bettas usually fight amongst their own species. They are quite innocent, docile, and non violent when kept with others. They lack the aggressiveness and are slow as in comparison to other competitive species.
