Bettas are carnivores, feeding essentially on insects and bug larvae in the wild. They thrive on protein based frozen, pellet and flake foods in aquariums. There are a couple of species in the genus Betta, however the best known and most unbelievable is the Siamese Fighting Fish; Betta splendens; the gorgeous Betta. This fish comes from Thailand and the old name of Thailand was Siam. Other names for this fish are: Japanese Fighting Fish, Samarai Fighting Fish, Chinese Fighting Fish and Mexican fighting Fish. The Cambodian Fighting Fish is a color diversity of this fish.
